On Sunday 27th October Avril Cunningham demonstrated 'Having fun with Gels and Pastes'. Avril showed us many different types of gels and pastes and demonstrated how best to use them to enhance acrylic painting and provide many different textures when using acrylics. She showed us examples of work done using crackle paste, moulding paste, glass bead gel and many others, describing their properties. It was very helpful and informative to see how they would be used, and also to see the finished work. Then Avril went on to demonstrate Gelli Plate printing. This was fascinating, a form of monoprinting in which a gelatin block is used as a printing plate, with water based printing ink or acrylics. This was followed by people trying out the process. It was very effective and enjoyed by those present.
