This is the second week of the summer term. On Monday morning a four week printing class, led by Dorothy Black, began. Then on Thursday afternoon another four week class began, a painting / mixed media class, led by Vicky Coull. Participants in both classes are a mix of potters, painters and non members. Meanwhile all four pottery classes and the Tuesday afternoon and evening classes are all busy, and new people in these classes are settling in and enjoying the taster sessions during this term. Our children's class, Hot Pot Kids Art also began this week, with a new tutor, Dorothy Black. Unfortunately for us Hazel, the previous tutor, is moving on to a new post. Summer school is here

This week our summer term began. On Sunday 14th Heather Gilbert repeated her workshop, 'Printing on Clay' for those members who didn't manage to get a place the first time. Once again this was much enjoyed. From Monday all four pottery classes began. Some new members are learning the basics of handbuilding and using the wheel, while some people develop their own work and others work on pieces to be fired outdoors during the Raku weekend. The Tuesday afternoon and evening painting classes also began. There are still a few places in the afternoon class but the Tuesday evening class is now full. Kirkcaldy Art Club is having a short break before our summer term classes begin. This gives a chance to begin planning the programme of demonstrations and workshops for the new session from September. Soon, from Monday, 15th April, all pottery classes will begin again for six weeks. Some new members will be joining the classes, trying to throw pots and handbuilding to see if pottery is something they would like to take further in the future. Some members will be continuing their work and others will be working on Raku, working towards the Raku weekend, when their work will be fired outdoors in an oil drum, an exciting time for all. Summer classes start soon!

This week Kirkcaldy Art Club returned to 'normal'. Our annual exhibition took place the previous week and was very successful. Very many people visited over our Open Weekend, members bringing family and friends, people walking around Dysart, and also people from the allotments in Ravenscraig Park, children too enjoyed arty activities in the pottery and many people enjoyed coffee and tea with our famous 'home baking'. Over last week visitors were still arriving , having seen our posters in local shops, cafes and businesses.
