Wayne Galloway demo and Peter Russell workshop

31st January 2020 Last week at Kirkcaldy Art Club, on Thursday evening, 23rd January, Wayne Galloway, one of our tutors, demonstrated to members the different techniques that he uses to create his work. He showed how he creates a crackle effect by applying sodium silicate, and how he makes his pots smooth by using terra sigillata. Wayne also showed us photos of the different firing techniques he applies to create his work, such as smoke and pit firing, obvara, and how he uses horsehair and feathers to decorate his pots. Now in the third week of this term class members are all back into the routine of the art club and many are working towards our annual exhibition in March. On Thursday evening this week, 23rd January, 7-9 pm, Wayne Galloway, one of our pottery tutors, is demonstrating 'How to produce a smooth pot'. Then on Sunday 26th January, 1-4pm, Peter Russell, a Stirling based artist, will lead a workshop, 'Collage with Printing'. The following Sunday, 2nd February, 2-4pm Chi Zhang will demonstrate his skills in Chinese Brush Painting. This demo is relevant to both painting and pottery members. Some of his work has been projected on to Edinburgh Castle during a military tattoo at the Edinburgh Festival.

16th January 2020 This is week two of this term at Kirkcaldy Art Club. The children's class, Hot Pot Kids, is now full, and began this week on Monday. All painting and pottery classes and the printing class have now started and new members will be settling in to their classes and getting to know people. There are still a few places in the Monday morning printing class, 10 am - 12 noon, and also in the Wednesday evening painting class, 7-9 pm. Both classes welcome beginners and also people with experience. It is not too late to join.
