Last Sunday afternoon Daniel Scottow, an artist based in Fife, demonstrated his skills and techniques in painting dramatic seas, skies and silhouettes, using acrylics. While painting Daniel talked through his choice of colours to produce a dark cloudy sky, mountains in the distance, a sea in darkness, and the silhouette of an old pier. Meanwhile Daniel also answered questions from the audience re his choice of brushes, use of canvases and canvas boards, best colours to use for silhouettes etc . Everyone appreciated all the tips and advice Daniel shared and learned so much over a two hour period. It was a pleasure to see so many members from all five painting classes, including new members, and also some from the pottery, all enjoying Daniel's demo - a great Sunday afternoon. In two weeks Dorothy Black returns to Kirkcaldy Art Club on Sunday 10th February, 1-4 pm. to lead a workshop in painting 'Big Flowers' using charcoal, oil, and liquid acrylic paint. This follows Dorothy's dynamic demo last year which was very impressive and will be an exciting approach to using mixed media. Meanwhile all nine tutored classes are progressing well, along with both untutored sessions in painting and craft. Forward planning is now in place for a demonstration by Vicky Coull. Vicky lives in Cupar and exhibits her paintings at North Fife Open Studios and at Eden Art. Her demo in watercolour will take place on Sunday 24th February.
