Arts & Crafts with the little ones

At the end of the art club term, while many members were hosting all the visitors to the Christmas Art and Craft Fair, other members were providing art activities for children, with a Christmas theme, at Templehall Library. This was the second event for Fun Palaces, arranged by ON Fife Libraries. That Saturday afternoon children aged 4-11 arrived, eager to get started. Parents of the younger children stayed and got involved too. While using clay children made tree decorations using Christmas cookie cutters and garnished them with 'jewels', and also made bowls ( pinch pots ) to hold LED tea lights, also beautifully decorated with sparkly pearls. They also made Christmas cards, some using thumb prints to make reindeer heads, others using collage, printing and jewels to make festive trees. Some also managed to make a snowman on a snowy night montage. All children made a star-shaped Christmas wreath with leaves, holly berries. red bows and, of course, glitter ! It was a busy afternoon and very productive, with children very proud of their achievements. This is the second year that Kirkcaldy Art Club has been involved in providing art activities for children, as part of Fun Palaces' events. Following parents' queries about provision for children's art classes Kirkcaldy Art Club is now ready to begin an art class for children at Hot Pot Wynd in Dysart. Enrolment for 'Hot Pot Kids Art' will take lace on Monday 10th December at Hot Pot Wynd, 5pm - 6pm. The cost for 10 weeks will be £60 and this covers all materials and equipment. There will be places for 10 children, and, if more than 10 children would like a space a waiting list will be made for the next term, after Easter. The final art club event takes place this Friday, 7th December, the art club Christmas party.
