Another successful workshop by Susan Forsyth

Thursday 25th November, 7.30 - 9.30 pm, Malcolm Barton, will demonstrate his skills and techniques in 'Painting with Pastels' over an acrylic base. We look forward to Malcolm sharing his suggestions and tips in using pastels. Last Sunday, 21st October, St Andrews based artist Susan Forsyth led a workshop in 'Painting with oils using a palette knife. This workshop was fully booked and included people who had some experience of working with oils and some who were complete beginners at using this medium. Susan, a very experienced tutor, took people through the stages of painting a seascape. Three hours later there were many people very proud to have achieved this goal, not just in using a different medium but also in using a palette knife to create the richly textured qualities of impasto. Our next workshop will take place on Sunday 11th November, 1-4pm. Ann Watson, one of last year's Shell painting exhibition's winners, will lead her workshop in ' Painting with acrylics, acrylic inks and collage'. Susan was born and brought up in the East Neuk of Fife and her paintings always reflect the colours and textures of the coastal villages. All classes are now into the second half of this term and evidence of paintings and pottery items show how hard our members have been working. The craft group, who meet on Wednesday mornings, are also working hard. They are working towards the Christmas Art and Craft Fair which they organise. This is a two day event later in November and it is a great opportunity to find unique hand made gifts for Christmas.
