Last weekend, 17th and 18th March Kirkcaldy Art Club hosted its annual Open Weekend. Saturday was quieter than usual, probably as there were at least three other events on at the same time in Kirkcaldy. However Sunday was very busy despite the weather, with many families bringing their children for arty activities in the pottery, also people exploring Dysart, people walking the Coastal Path and some coming from Linlithgow and Durham. There were also our regular visitors who always come every year to see what is on offer. Meanwhile our Annual Exhibition was still ongoing and this weekend we had one of our tutors, Irene Thomson, demonstrating her skills and techniques on Saturday, and then on Sunday Heather Leuchars, one of our members, also was demonstrating her work and was joined by a little boy, aged six, who wanted to paint too. He sat at the table beside Heather, did his painting and then duly signed it! Most classes have finished for this term, apart from a few which were rescheduled because of snowy weather. This coming Sunday, 25th March, 1-4pm, Jenny Rae will repeat her very popular workshop, 'Garden Gargoyle Planters'. Some other classes have been arranged for the Summer term, from mid April onwards, a six week programme of pottery classes, a six week sketching / painting class, some outdoor painting classes too, around Dysart harbour, Pittenweem etc. There is also a painting challenge - 'Paint two paintings in two days'! These classes are open to non members and are like taster sessions, so you can find out what it is all about. We are also organising a four week painting course too. So, once again, lots going on in Hot Pot Wynd.
