Most of Jo's work is thrown on the potter’s wheel, but she also hand build's larger pieces by coiling and slip cast some of the smaller pieces. She decorates each piece using the technique of sgraffito: when the work is partially dry it is dipped into a contrasting coloured slip. Then she scratches the design through the coloured slip to reveal the white clay body underneath. This is the technique Jo is going to give us a demonstration of and answer all your questions, as well as tips and tricks on how to achieve the look yourself.
