Our first workshop and demo
This coming Sunday, 21st October, 1-4pm, St Andrew's based artist, Susan Forsyth, will lead a workshop 'Painting with oils using a palette knife'. All those who signed up for Susan's workshop are very much looking forward to it, whether they are experienced in using oils or are 'beginners' in using oils. A few days later, on Thursday 25th October, 7.30- 9.30,
Malcolm Barton will demonstrate his skills and techniques in 'Painting with Pastels'. Malcolm is a highly regarded artist and has exhibited his work in both the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Art. This year he also took part in Central Fife Open Studios. This demonstration is free to all members and we look forward to meeting some of our new members there. Planning for our next workshop is already in place. Ann Watson, one of last year's Shell painting competition winners, will lead a workshop in 'Painting with acrylics, acrylic inks, and collage'. Ann lives in the East Neuk and her paintings reflect the colours and textures of the area. Last week the craft group invited Beth Snaddon to run a workshop in 'Shibori', a type of Japanese 'tie - dye, using indigo dye to achieve a variety of designs using pegs, elastic bands, string etc to produce a range of patterns. Everyone really enjoyed this and loved their results. The craft group, who meet every Wednesday morning, are now busy planning and working towards their Christmas Art and Craft Fair, a two day event which will take place later in November.
